Inland Andalucia Property Sales
So, what is it that draws so many house hunters to the Spanish countryside? It is a very easy question to answer, all you have to do is visit the countryside in Andalucia and the odds are that you will fall in love with it!
There are some great locations in Andalucia for those who wish to live in the countryside yet close to the coast, best locations to buy property in this area is Monda, Ojen, Guaro, Coin and Alhaurin el Grande for example. If you would rather live further inland and are not worried about the coast, then locations such as Estepa, Marchena, Villanueva del Algaidas, Alameda, Encinas Reales are great locations where you will find cheap Spanish houses for sale in some spectacular areas.
Architecture is very different when it comes to rural properties as opposed to coastal properties in Andalucia. Rural or rustic properties as they are also known have features and character not seen in modern properties. For example, you will notice that many of the older style properties inland as well as the traditional townhouses throughout Andalucia and Southern Spain have small windows and are quite dark inside; the purpose behind this is that it keeps the house warm in the winter and cool in the summer; most of the old constructions have thick usually rubble-filled walls and quite often are white; in some cases, local regulations require all the properties to be white! Another feature very commonly found in rural Spanish houses are the bars on the windows.
The bars on the windows or Rejas (RE-HAS) as they are called in Spanish allegedly originate from the days when there weren't any glass panes on the windows and they were just openings on the wall, many people in those days (and a few to this day) used to keep livestock inside their homes, the bars or rejas served as a way of providing safety for the property as well as a means of preventing livestock from running away, whether this is a true story or not it is impossible to verify but it does make a certain amount of sense!

These are just a few simple reasons, as you can see in one of the points, it is easier to learn Spanish when living inland, the reason for this is very simple, fewer people speak English when you move away from the coast.
